Stringent English Language Requirements

In our work certifying English Language ability and helping learners, we also receive large numbers of candidates who are seeking a certain grade or qualification to support their application to study or work abroad. In these cases, the Cambridge English C1 Advanced (CAE) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exams are the most popular and trusted certifications.  A University applicant who demonstrates strong ability in either of these exams can be trusted to be able to perform effectively in their studies at an English-speaking University, or work in and English-speaking country.

In an unprecedented move, the Australian government has instituted more rigorous English language requirements for international students. It is expected that, for almost all purposes, there will be an increase of 0.5 in the minimum score required in the IELTS test. As the C1 Advanced (CAE) exam is already clearly aligned to the language level, it is expected that this will remain unchanged.

Students are now required to demonstrate a logical and beneficial progression in their studies, deterring those who might have otherwise enrolled in courses merely as a means to remain in the country.
